SPECIAL ENGLISH PROBLEMS FOR FRENCH SPEAKERS
For Francophones, excellent English is very achievable! English grammar rules are different from French grammar rules, but those differences are easy to learn.
The problems French speakers have in English are things that require a teacher who also knows French.
There is one sound that is difficult for Francophones: TH. Actually, it is easy! I can teach that “en un clin d’oeil”! I promise! “Deux minutes” – maximum!
Another problem for French speakers is when to say the “H” sound in words like “honor” and “hotel.” There is a rule for this that you will learn in my Online English Lessons for French Speakers.
Many francophone have trouble knowing which syllable in a word receives the emphasis. In French, “en principe,” the emphasis is always on the last syllable in the word (though in speaking, people sometimes do variations for effect). In English, the emphasis can be on any syllable. In my English Online English Lessons for French Speakers, you will learn the right way. You will teach your ear to hear those differences.
Here is another problem for French speakers: Putting the “s” at the end of the “he/she/it” form. (In French, the “s” is there, but it is not pronounced.) Also – putting the “s” on plurals. This “little” point is very, very important! It immediately upgrades your English. It is an easy habit to learn.
