Since the beginning of LearnEnglish-NY, I have had many, many Spanish-speaking students.
Since I can speak some Spanish, I know the special English problems of Spanish speakers. I understand the structure of the Spanish language. This helps me to help you in my Online English Lessons for Spanish Speakers.
I learned Spanish the same way many of my Spanish-speaking students learned English: First by speaking, without formal study.
If you only learn by speaking without any study, you are never 100% sure if you are speaking right. (I think you know what I mean!) I experienced this process myself in Spanish. Online English Lessons for Spanish Speakers can help you enjoy your English with new confidence.
Spanish speakers have three main problems in Conversational English.
The first is the rhythm of the language. One of the most beautiful things about Spanish is its rhythm. English also has a rhythm – but it is different from the Spanish rhythm. In my Online English Lessons for Spanish Speakers, you learn the rhythm of English. This is easy for Spanish speakers: It is like changing from a tango to a rumba!
Another issue is saying clearly the last letter in a word. Many Spanish speakers say “walk” and “walked” the same way. This is a big problem – but it is an easy problem.
There is a reason for this problem: In Spanish the final “d” in a word is often soft. Think of the word “verdad”: You don’t “bite down” on the final “D.” In English (which is originally a German language) you do bite down on it. Americans speaking Spanish often make the opposite mistake. “Walk” and “walked” have different meanings! You must be clear with this English Pronunciation, or people will not understand you. This is very easy to fix.
A third issue is forgetting to put the “s” on plurals and on the end of the he/she/it form of a verb. These two small things make a big, big difference in your English. In your Online English Lessons for Spanish Speakers, you lose bad habit and add good habits!
